Fair time

Hellu,

This past weekend, Justin and I took a few days off to spend together. The first of which we used to catch up on all kinds of apartment stuff and whatnot that we had to lay by the wayside during our busy work weeks. The second? We went to the fair! Now it’s just a little fair that’s held in my hometown every year, but he had never been and I was excited to get out and DO something (:

It was a beautiful sunny Sunday and we enjoyed soaking up the rays while we had a lunch of yummy fair food (chicken) and got some iced teas at an awesome cart!

In the barn, there were tons of birds to see! Lots of cute chicken, big hens, and ducks too ^ even one some guy had out that we got to pet and it was so calm (amazing) and sweetly closed its eyes while we touched it. They had bunnies too- most were smushed up against the back of the cages, but the few that weren’t, we got to stick our fingers through the bars and touch their soft fur. I think Justin enjoyed the turkeys the most and with good reason! They made the cutest gobbling sounds (:

Under the big top was all the livestock! I’m queen of the goats ^ and a lover of all cow babies. I had the best time petting on all the sweet animals they had penned up. My favorite were the brown and black baby cows, and Justin’s favorite was the big-eyed spotted cow that looked like a giant dog. I was scared to pet the llamas and camel, but I had a goat lick my leg (weird) so I guess they were all pretty nice. The cows loved the attention and I’m so thankful to my man for capturing such incredible shots of our experience there!

Games and rides were next: we won a giraffe at the pick-up-ducks game and a Pikachu at balloon-popping with darts which was my first time doing that! We went on the tilt-a-whirl (makes me laugh uncontrollably every time), swings (which went higher than we thought), carousel (mine was a cat instead of a horse^), and the Ferris wheel (definite fave). It was such an awesome day spent with the love of my life and made me even more excited to go to the fair in his hometown, for the second time, later this year AND the state fair after that!

We stopped at my parents’ house on our way back (to drop off my car insurance) and I managed to get some really adorable pics of my sister’s dog BamBam ^ and we ended up blowing a tire out on the highway. Super. Luckily, he had a nice spare in the trunk so we weren’t stranded or in need of a tow. *my hero btw* Once we got home- surprisingly at a decent time, we made baked chicken for the first time together and it turned out delicious! I had mine with green beans and pesto, while he opted for mushrooms. We both had spinach salads as a side and it was really a lovely meal that I’m sure we’ll have again soon or altered in some way (:

To wrap up this photo-filled post, I’ll leave you with a glimpse of one of my new hair clips that babe got for a deal at one of the fair stalls just before we left (it was the last day, so I think people just wanted to sell their stuff). I have it in green and purple as well! He snuck a pic of our ride on the Orient Express too ^ who ever actually pays for those? Actually, I did once at Kings Dominion lol which we totally need to visit before the summer is up!

Where have you all been this summer? Any fairs or amusement parks? Lemme know in the comments and stick around for more about what we’ve been up to on our days off (:

  1. Aww you two got such beautiful pictures!! I loved getting to virtually visit the fair with you guys 💚💚 I love petting zoo areas like that! When I got to go to one that looked pretty similar when I was younger, I was nervous about letting the llamas, too; I didn’t want them to bite or spit at me or something 😂 oh my BamBam is SO sweet! xx and thank goodness for the men in our lives who know all about car maintenance! 😂💜
