BirthDAY

Hellu,

Kept you waiting, huh? Sorry that this is the latest I’ve ever been with posting, but my work schedule since going back has been jam packed. I actually ended up editing all these photos while we were having a slow night!

My 21st birthday was the third of this month and to celebrate (besides all the stuff we did the 3 days prior), Justin made me some gluten-free blueberry muffins for breakfast. I added some of the orange marmalade from the fair to the top- delicious! He surprised me with some lovely gifts of a to-do list pad (cause I write them like 10 times a day) on a nice crystal pedestal. He also gave me some more Pokémon cards before we got ready for our day. I was feeling the witchy vibes with my dress and lipstick (: we were off to the zoo in no time! It’s one of our favorite places to go because we love seeing all the animals and getting to interact with the ones that aren’t behind glass…

The first area is a big bird cage to walk through ^ and a little section for prairie dogs to pop around. We managed to get pretty close to some of the ibis and ducks! One of the flamingos was flapping its wings and making a weird sound. Justin was throwing animal feed to the field hamsters, and they all ran over (:

Next up were the monkeys, reptile room, and some other little randoms! They had a new baby monkey (2nd pic) who was absolutely adorable. The big snake spooked the hell out of me when we turned the corner cause it was hanging down right at the glass. The frogs/toads were cute- we might get one soon. The last guy at the end is the one that freaked out when Justin & I kissed in front of it the first time we went to this zoo. He’s used to us by now. All the big cats and even the “nocturnal” animals seemed to be quite active as the weather was once again GORGEOUS (:

Maybe the *second* coolest part of our trip was the tiger who was pacing back and forth right in front of the windows. The first picture of this section was my best work- she was looking right at the camera! Then Justin and I got a selfie with her. He also took some pictures of me cause I was feeling my birthday self. The tiger was very curious of what the bear next door was doing, as were we. He seemed to be either scratching himself with the stick or giving us all a good show…

We saw a few tortoise, rhino, zebras, and an ostrich before stopping for some off-brand Dippin’ Dots which were very refreshing after walking in the sunshine for a while (:

FAVORITE PART – GIRAFFES (enough said)

We found Toby! After the giraffe extravaganza, we walked over to the “farm” animal section which included camels (one humped and two), a little deer, a mother peacock with her babies, some goats and lambs. The greatest of them all was Toby the duiker who was super sweet letting us pet him. He kept licking my arm and even tried to nibble! It didn’t hurt at all, but was really funny…

The more interactive of the two bird cages at the zoo, was with all the little guys! We got ourselves a stick with some feed on the end to get them onto our hands. One of them was definitely the tougher of the bunch as he pushed another bird out of the way when we were trying to feed it. I love all the bright colors they are and how light their pecks are (:

We ended up seeing the penguins just as the lady was feeding them- so cute waddling together. Then Justin bought himself a hotdog to tie himself over and we shared a strawberry smoothie! We got a peek at the otters, more birds and monkeys, and the dark room of bats (which is one of my fave parts). The cheetah was awake and posing for perfect photos ^ gotta love that selfie!

Home to get ready for dinner…

I used Marzia’s “Natura” eyeshadow palette (collab with Winky Lux) again for our night out. I chose the bright orange color cause I thought it went well with my burnt orange nail polish, but it actually ended up matching a lot more as the evening progressed. I also changed into the other color of the dress I bought- from Kohl’s btw. We went to Urban Outfitters cause we got into town a bit early for dinner. Babe got the shirt he’s wearing ^ and I got a dress that matched my makeup and had open shoulders to wear at a later time when I have my tattoos done. We also stepped into Sephora for a bit (more on that in my separate *gifts* post). Dinner was at Boathouse! We had been to this restaurant before for our 8-month anniversary and really enjoyed it. This time it was even better cause we got drinks. My first legal drink was called Sea Ghost and it was made with Cruzan light rum, Cruzan dark rum, spiced rum, Cruzan coconut rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, sour, grenadine, Bacardi 151 float. The drink matched my makeup too! It was very good, but I think I would’ve liked it more if the coconut and spiced rum weren’t as strong- they aren’t my favorite flavors. Justin ordered the crab cake and was looking devilishly handsome if I may say so (: and I had the salmon. Our meal was fantastic as expected and we were both super full…

After dinner was when it all hit me ^ as you can see we had a difficult time taking selfies without me laughing til I was crying (idek why). Then I tried to take the horse piece from the giant chess board, and I guess I really wanted a picture with the purple minion outside of Wegman’s? We went in for a few minutes just to grab some macarons because The Tottering Teacup’s machine is broken and I was still craving the cute treats. They had an assorted pack of minis- we got two boxes, so I’d say it was a birthday WIN

Sorry again for how awfully long it took for this post to finally be published. Good news is we’ve done some more stuff since then, but not so much that I haven’t edited the pics. More content should be out real soon! Hope you guys had a fun b-day with me (:

    1. Thank you 💁🏻 I’ll be showcasing most of the outfits featured in my birthWEEK activities in a separate “Autumn lookbook” post. I love the giraffes and feeding them is so much fun! We tried talking to the parrots, but they only ended up saying hi when we were walking away haha thank a lot for your lovely comment xoxo

  2. What a great way to spend your birthday! I would love to spend it with these amazing animals as well. And how cute is that To-Do list that Justin gave you. None of my boyfriend’s ever did anything nice for my bday, so you’re a lucky girl! That’s cool that you got to experience your first legal drink. I never drank at all on my 21st birthday. I remember I really wanted to go out and get my first legal drink, but my bf at the time didn’t feel like doing anything and wanted us to just stay in. I still regret that to this day.

  6. Okay, let’s see if I don’t forget all of the things I mean to comment on lol I love how you let your hair air dry, I do the same. I do usually throw it into a bun while wet, otherwise I look like a lion once it dries out. I love your first dress, the print is gorgeous. The dress you wore for dinner is lovely as well but that red dress… damn girl. It’s perfect. Your orange eye-shadow looks great on you and you always do your eyes so well. Perfect eye makeup plus perfect eyebrows 🙂 I’m sorry I’m only wishing you a happy birthday today but I have been absent and a little distracted when it comes to blogging. Hugs. xx ❤
